The construction of the first Blue Tank in Herleshausen in 2023 marked the start of our own expansion of our BIO-LNG refueling station network. The second location in Himmelkron followed in December 2024. Both stations feature state-of-the-art facilities with a 70,000-liter tank and provide a reliable, safe supply at conveniently located sites. Additional locations are already in the planning stages to continuously expand our network.

LNG
What is LNG – and what is it used for?
LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) is cryogenically cooled, liquefied natural gas. By cooling it to approximately –162 °C, the gas is converted into a liquid state and its volume is reduced to about one-six-hundredth. This enables efficient storage and the cost-effective transport of large quantities of energy.
LNG is primarily used where high-performance and clean energy is required—particularly in heavy-duty transport, shipping, and industrial applications.
Compared to diesel or heavy fuel oil, LNG produces up to 20% less CO₂, virtually no particulate matter emissions, and significantly lower nitrogen oxide levels. This makes it an economical and more environmentally friendly alternative to conventional fuels—without compromising on performance or range.

Advantages of LNG in heavy-duty transport
The use of LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) in heavy-duty transport combines economic efficiency with environmental responsibility. Compared to diesel, LNG burns significantly cleaner: CO₂ emissions are reduced by up to 20 percent, nitrogen oxides by up to 85 percent, and particulate matter is virtually nonexistent. In this way, transport companies make an active contribution to reducing greenhouse gases and complying with legal environmental requirements.
LNG is also economically compelling. Freight forwarders benefit from stable energy prices, lower toll costs, and tax advantages, which make operating LNG vehicles attractive in the long term. At the same time, modern LNG trucks offer ranges of up to 1,600 kilometers with performance comparable to diesel—ideal for international long-haul transport.
Another advantage is the quiet operation of the engines, which offers particular benefits during nighttime driving and inner-city deliveries. Furthermore, LNG is considered a future-proof technology: With the increasing use of bio-LNG, which is produced from biogenic waste materials, heavy-duty transport can be operated in a virtually CO₂-neutral manner in the future.
Thus, LNG represents a powerful, economical, and sustainable alternative in freight transport today—and is a decisive step toward more climate-friendly logistics.
